Hey everybody! Hope you all enjoyed the Labor Day alcoholiday!
To welcome everybody back to work this week, we have some new versions
of the latest BDF tunes! This time, the lyrics are actually a lot clearer
and louder, and you can understand what's being said/sang/screamed!
We also added some distortion to the guitar finally, so it doesn't sound so
disgustingly "clean" all the time! I'll keep the news short this time since that's
all I really wanted to say. Enjoy!
Peace out!

More New Tunes Yo! |
08/28/01 |
|
Hello all you crazy people!
The latest versions of the newest songs have been posted.
I've also created a new practice archive section where
the older versions of the songs are kept in a nice, orderly, organized fashion.
So the main practice page will from now on only contain
the latest version of each song. If there is no date listed next to it, that means
it is from the most recent practice. If it has a date next to it, that means that
a newer version was not recorded at the most recent practice, and this is an older copy.
Basically, I thought it was important to have the latest version of every song available
on this page, without cluttering it with tons of different takes on the same song.
Does that make sense? If you do or don't like the new layout, and/or have
some recommendations on how to do it better, let me know yo! Thanks. :)

New Tunes and Updated History! |
08/21/01 |
|
Greeetings fans and friends!
We have posted some new songs from the latest practice session for your listening pleasure (or pain).
There's some brand new songs that have only been played for the first time this session, some updated (better?) versions of
some of the songs we have been working on, and, believe it or not, a secret track hidden in there! (There's a second song
accidentally attached to the end of one of the new tracks, so you actually get two songs for the price of one when you
download that track!) Of course, I'm not going to tell you which track it is, or what the hidden song is, but I will say
that it is a never before heard original BDF tune! For those of you who don't feel like downloading all the songs looking for it,
I'll give you a hint: There's only one instance of this song in the right-most column. :P Have fun!
Also, I have done some work on the Band History section of the site.
The latest chapters of the BDF History have been added, and the complete history of DSA has also been
finished and posted. I also added some navigation ability to the bottom of the BDF history in case you like
to skip around and read rather than being forced to read it in order.
Until next time...

The "Why .org?" Mystery Revealed! |
08/17/01 |
|
Hello peoples!
I thought I'd take a few minutes to briefly explain why the website
is ".org" and not ".com" just in case people might be wondering (you know who you are). ;)
Basically, when I originally thought of the whole band website thing,
I wanted to register bdf.com, but, as
you can see, it's taken. (It's some weird healthcare and science association.. who woulda thunk..)
Then I tried bdf.org and bdf.net but, alas,
those were taken as well. After deciding not to join the Ballroom Dancing Federation, and
being amused by the graphs and cartoons at the .net one (although I couldn't read a word... it's in French),
I decided to try variations of the "beerdrinkingfools" domain. Forunately, they were all available!
So the next decision was should we go with .com, .org, or .net? Or some lameass new one like .tv or .ws?
Well, I was real close to going with .com, since that's obviously the most popular and easiest for
people to remember. But, after thinking about it a bit more, I remembered that .com actually stands for "commercial"
which reminded me of MTV, which reminded me of selling out, which reminded me of corporations and stiff people
in suits. It also reminded me of how trendy it was to talk about new internet startup companies as a "dot com" company.
That shit is not at all what BDF is all about. It's much more about having fun and drinking beer and making music and being funny
and uhmmmm did I mention drinking beer? BDF isn't just the band, it's the legions of fans and friends who
share in the whole BDF experience. And that's why we're .org and not .com. ;)
If you'd like to continue this conversation, feel free to make your feelings known on our Message Board. :)
Also, for those of you who are just discovering the BDF phenomenon, please sign our Guest Book! When we
begin handing out demos and start getting gigs (which will pretty much be any day now), we'll be
telling those decision making type people to check out the web site! So if you help us make it look
active by signing the Guest Book and writing shit on the Message Board, mad props to you! ;)
Oh, and on a totally unrelated note, I archived a bunch of news items
to make this page load faster... You can see it down below through the
Old News link.
Anyways, I think that's all for now. :P

New BDF Songs Released! |
08/15/01 |
|
Hello fans and friends!
That's right! After several sessions in the practice studio, BDF
is making several brand spankin new songs available for download!
These songs are the first ever recorded with BDF's new lineup: Rich L. on vocals,
Mike K. on bass, and Mike G. on drums! And you can hear the energy and new dimension
these guys bring to the BDF sound! This collection of songs even includes
a few classics from the past, such as Violent Grey's "Bitch Stole My Dog" and RAG's "Smack",
two songs that were always crowd favorites. :)
And, as mentioned in the previous news item, BDF Contest Winner Steve D. joined the
band in the studio. He can be heard jamming in a guest appearance type role on
several of the songs, in what are sure to become classic BDF rareties!
Be sure to check out the new tunes, and then stop by the
Message Board to let us know what you think! :)

BDF Contest Winner Claims Prizes |
08/01/01 |
|
Hello peoples!
BDF headed back to the practice studio last night, but it was no ordinary session!
Steve D., the winner of the first official BDF Contest, met the band at the bar to
be presented with his prizes and hang out with the band. He was presented with an Official BDF
T-shirt, an Official Puketoberfest long sleeve shirt, an Official BDF extra large coaster,
and, perhaps the most valuable item, an original piece of BDF artwork (drawn by Rich L. just
minutes before) which was signed by the band.
Steve also joined the band in the studio, and even played guitar with them on a few songs, and
jammed out a few others. Hopefully, we'll soon receive his impressions on the night spent with
BDF and post them here for your reading pleasure. :)
Progress inside the studio continues.. Songs with more than one part are starting to come
together, and songs with only one part are almost ready for mass consumption. Stay tuned for
more details as BDF inches closer and closer to taking the world by storm. ;)

General Bullshit Update Like Thing |
07/27/01 |
|
Hello all you crazy BDF fans!
July is almost over, and BDF is rolling right along through
what might very well be their most productive period of time
ever!
The band just finished its second practice session in the
studio, and several songs are starting to come together nicely.
Mike K. on bass and Mike G. on drums have brought a wealth of
talent to the band. The group is seeing a dimension to their
music that has never been seen before. (That might have a little
something to do with never having a real drum set before.)
Some of the songs that the band has been working on include
revised versions of "Latrell Sprewell", "Work Sux!",
and "Fuck Rudy", as well as cover songs by Rancid,
Fugazi, and Spore.
Look for some possible recordings to be made available soon for
your
listening pleasure. Available right here, exclusively at BDF
Headquarters!

Contest Winners Announced! |
07/13/01 |
|
What's up peoples!
The
votes have been tallied, and the winners have been decided!
BDF
would like to take a moment to thank all those who actually
took the time to submit an entry. We appreciate that you took
the interest and effort to enter the contest, and for that you
get mad props.
To all
who couldn't spare a few minutes to come up with something at
least somewhat relevant and creative, you suck! :P
Anyways,
now that I got a chance to vent a little bit about the
horrendous lack of participation and demonstration of total
apathy even for fun things related to beer and BDF, I'll
announce the winners.
The
judging process involved compiling all the contest entries
anonymously, and submitting them to a panel of esteemed BDF
judges. Each judge then read the entries, and scored them from
1 to 5 (5 being the highest, and 1 pretty much sucking, but at
least they get a point for actually submitting an entry). The
scores were tallied, and the 3 highest entries were declared
the winners.
And
now, I present the winners in the first Official BDF Contest:
First Prize: By Steve D.
"Listening to your music reminds me a bit of listening
to John Lennon. That is to say, if someone dug up John Lennon,
stuffed a cat in his rotting corpse, shoved a high pressure air tube up his ass and turned it
on, the screams from the cat bellowing out of John's mouth
compounded with the chunks of organs, lead and formaldehyde spewing out remind me of
your music. I love it."
Second Prize: By Eric P.
"What I heard of the songs was way cool. I think you
should stay with that style- raw, rebellious, beer drinking
fools! Your music makes me want to leave work immediately, go
out, get piss-assed drunk, and jump around while listening to
BDF at ear-blaring volume!!"
Third Prize: By Joel C.
"BDF music is the perfect accompaniment to any drunken
brawl or keg fest! A must have for anyone serious enough to
imbue massive gallons of "festive beverages"!
"
You can check out the rest of the contest entries, and how
they placed in the standings on the Message
Board and you can even chime in about which entries you like
best or think suck!
Thanks again to everybody who entered, and congrats to the
winners! :)
