"Beer Is Our Game!"

ARCHIVED NEWS (old shit)

Happy Memorial Day!

05/27/03

Hello fans!,

Hope everybody had a nice long (and drunk) Memorial Day weekend. Even if the weather did suck. We now resume your regularly scheduled programming of work sucking.

Lots o' stuff though to get your short work week off to a good start! First, we're winding down with accepting entries for the latest BDF contest, which allows you to try your hand at writing a BDF song. Read more about it on the official contest page, and get your entry soon!

We have a show coming up in a few weeks to usher in the summer with some ice cold beers.
Thursday, June 12th at 7pm at Acme Underground, come right after work and help BDF kick off their Summer of Suds world tour!

Need advice with something? Having problems with your relationship? Wondering why work sucks so much? Well, us here at BDF HQ feel your pain, and we've enlisted Swilley to answer your questions and give advice! In our first installment of Ask Swilley,, our resident beer-swillin', boot-stompin', mohawk-wearin' punk rocker offers advice on relationships, politics, and more! And you can submit your own questions by sending it to Swilley@beerdrinkingfools.org and he'll be sure to answer every letter received!

And, last but not least.... Have you seen any of those online tests that are out there these days? You know, the ones that tell you how yuppie you are, or how big a geek you are, or which Pokemon character you are most like? Well, the scientists here at BDF, Inc. have been working overtime on their very own test. And now, for your own pleasure (and the pleasure of those around you), you are invited to find out How Drunk Are You? Be sure to keep track of your score and compare it with your friends and familay!

I'm out like the fat kid in dodge ball.

Lots O' Site Updates!

04/28/03

Hiyas peeps,

Thanks to all who came out to the Orange Bear show! We had a nice sized crowd. But it doesn't look like we'll be playing there any time soon. Darn, and we'll really miss those 6 dollar beers and crappy sound system!

As you might have noticed, we changed the menu on the left a bit. It now does some funky open and collapsing to popular pages on the site for easier navigation. Let me know if it doesn't work with your browser or if you find any problems with it.

There's been updates to many sections, including new pictures of the band in the Photos section, new Reviews, and new posters on display under the Art section. And, the brand spanking new BDF History Timeline which gives a summary of the evolution of BDF, from the first beer up to the current state of disarray!

Let me know if you come across any broken links or weird behavior. Or any ideas for new sections or pages. :)

BDF at the Orange Bear this Saturday!

04/02/03

Heyas all,

The snow has finally melted, the weather is getting slightly warmer, and spring is in sight! And what better way to enjoy the coming of Spring than to come on down to the Orange Bear this Saturday night, April 5th, for the twin-bill show of the year!

At 9pm will be the Brian Klunk Power Trio to rock your socks off. Featuring Brian Klunk, Mike Kucinskis, and Mike Gill, these guys have a striking resemblance to some of the members of BDF. But we can assure you that this resemblance is purely coincidental, and they sing about more meaningful and heartfelt things than just beer and how much work sucks. And rumor has it the megaphone might be making a return appearance.

At 10pm, BDF takes the stage! Hopefully you've already got a good buzz going, because you'll need it for your ears adjust to what BDF has in store for this night! The Orange Bear themselves called the sound of Beer Drinking Fools "Too, too loud!! Very young and punk!" No doubt those crazy kids will have a few surprises in store for everyone as they attempt to get banned from the Orange Bear for a second time! It's a Saturday night. Be there or be sober! .

Also, we're happy to announce the Third Official BDF Contest! This is the chance for all our creative fans out there to become a part of the BDF song-writing process, and earn yourself some fame and respect in the music industry! Not to mention that you could win some groovy BDF stuff and free beer! Check out the Official Contest Rules page, or find it listed under the abundantly entertaining Fun Stuff section of the site. Good luck to all those who enter!

See you all on Saturday! Be there or be sober!

Peace.

Whiskey River Show A Success!

03/03/03

Hey there,

The show this past Friday at the Whiskey River was a huge success! A few photos from the show have been posted for your viewing pleasure. BDF would like to thank Catspaw, Epic 13, the Kezners, and, extra special thanks to 245 for arranging the show and inviting us to play! The crowd was great, we gave away a ton of CDs, and the other bands kicked some heiney.

Thanks to everybody who came out and showed support. Hopefully we'll be playing there again in the future.

Next show: April 5th at the Orange Bear, so mark your calendar now. There's a chance we might try and fit in a show sometime in March before then, so come back soon to get the latest updates.

Upcoming Shows

02/19/03

Hello all you crazy people!

Think there's enough fucking snow on the ground? Sheesh.

But worry not! Relief is in sight! What better way to fight the cold and snow than with some alcohol to warm you up? BDF will be playing again live on Friday, February 28th at the Whiskey River in the Bronx. Also playing that night will be 245, Catspaw, the Kezners, and Epic 13. Should be a pretty fun show, and it's a Friday night, so all you pansies that won't come out to see us play on weeknights have no excuse this time.

Another show has been scheduled, but it's not until April 5th at the Orange Bear, so we'll remind you again later. But, just to get you interested now, it will feature 2 members of BDF playing a separate set before all of BDF takes the stage to tear shit up. So it's almost like 2 BDF shows for the price of one, but not really...

Read more about upcoming shows and some of our past triumphs in the Gigs section.

Peace.

Happy New Year!

01/30/03

Hello loyal BDF fans!

We're already a month deep into the New Year, and you're probably wondering "Where the hell is BDF?" Well, worry no more! We're back with two shows upcoming in February, and more goodies around the corner!

Hate Valentine's Day? Love Valentine's Day? Don't give a shit either way? Well, BDF is celebrating all these opinions during a pre-Valentine's Day Show at the Continental on February 9th! Not only we will be celebrating the wonders of Valentine's Day, but the 9th is also Steve's birthday and the 10th is Brian's birthday! So you get two birthdays and a Valentine's day! Three holidays for the price of one! Mad props to Joe Simko for yet another amazing original unique poster! (Note "cupid" shooting beer bottles instead of arrows! Frickin genius!)

We also have a show coming up later in February with our friends 245. More details will be made available as we actually find them out, but right now it's looking like Friday, February 28th at a bar in the Bronx. So keep that date free!

If you've made "Stop Drinking Beer" a New Year's resolution, well, you've made it a whole month! Congrats! Come on down on the 9th and break that resolution with style!

Holiday Fun For All!

12/17/02

Ho ho ho!

BDF is here to play Santa Claus (or is that Satan Claws?) and bring all the good boys and girls out there some holiday spirit! So, we are happy to present to you a few BDF Christmas Songs for your enjoyment! Featuring sure-to-be classics like "Frosty Cold Yuengling" and "Here Comes Heineken", we've included the lyrics so you can sing along! These tunes make the perfect group activity while having your 20th cup of eggnog sitting around the fireplace. :)

We've also got a few other little surprises for you. First, is an exclusive interview with Brian Ballantine, the newest member of BDF. Mr. Ballantine talks about several important social issues, as well as addressing those deep questions about goals and musical influences. BDF fans get a good look into the personality and dementia of BDF's new guitarist!

Do you still have some presents to buy? Have you forgotten about that friend you rarely see but always seems to buy you something for Christmas? Never fear! Get them some BDF Christmas Merchandise! With such new items as a 2003 BDF Calendar, a BDF Christmas Stocking (rumor has it, Santa always sticks beer in these... something about some kind of contract he has going with BDF in exchange for Ho Ho Ho's), and, the ever popular BDF Thong! Not to mention some of the classic items like the BDF Beer Stein, BDF T-Shirt, BDF Boxers, and BDF Lunchbox! What better gift to get for the BDF fan in your life? :)

Last but not least, we've compiled a useful list of things to help you out during the season. Whether it be going out shopping to buy gifts, traveling to see family or friends, or just your daily commute back and forth to work, you'll find this list of Ways to Hide Your Drinking In Public a wealth of info! Thanks to Brian Ballantine for the contribution. DISCLAIMER: If you get busted trying one of these methods, BDF is not responsible. However, if they work and you manage to successfully get drunk in public without getting a ticket, BDF takes full credit for the victory.

Have a safe and healthy (and drunk) holiday season!

Peace!

Happy Holidays From BDF!

12/03/02

Hey, hi!

Well, the holiday season is upon us, and BDF would like to take this opportunity to wish a happy, healthy, and drunken holiday season to all our friends, fans, and family! There are some rumors floating around that BDF is working on a Christmas Album featuring sure-to-be holiday classics like "Frosty The Pint Glass", "Rudolph The Red Nosed Barkeep", and "Deck The Halls With Kegs Of Guinness", but chances are the band will be too drunk on egg nog to actually get anything recorded this month.

Oh, and thanks to everybody who came out to the Puketoberfest show! Definitely our best show yet! Special thanks to the stage divers, moshers, and special guest singers during the encore of "Bitch Stole My Dog", you guys make the shows worth playing! :) And Brian Ballantine didn't even fuck up very much in his debut! Thanks to all those who welcomed him into the band and gave him warm tingly feelings to be a part of the BDF family. And brought him napkins to bandage his bloddy mess of a hand. I'm happy to say he's made a full recovery from the injury.

Enjoy the holiday season! And remember - don't eat yellow snow.

Ho ho ho!

-Steve

BDF Puketoberfest Celebration!

10/24/02

Heyas fans!

More news! BDF has a show coming up at Acme Underground in November! Saturday, November 9th, at Midnight, to be specific. And, this will be your chance to join BDF in ushering in the lesser known follower of Oktoberfest.... Puketoberfest! For more info, check out the Gigs section for more info on the upcoming show, and to learn more about past shows!

Our favorite BDF-supporting artist Joe Simko has contributed yet another amazing piece of work for a poster! Thanks to Joe, and if you haven't seen these posters in person, these digital images don't even do justice to how dope they are. ;)

Mark your calendars now! November 9th! And you should probably make no plans for the 10th either, as you'll be recovering from a pretty severe hangover. ;)

New BDF Member - Brian Ballantine!

10/17/02

Heyas peeps!

Okay, I told you we had big news, and we couldn't hold it in any longer! BDF is adding a new guitarist to their ranks! Here's our official press release:

BDF is mildly satisfied if not slightly pleased to announce a new addition to the BDF family. On a recent trip to Queens, Richie Rheingold stumbled (literally) upon a curious local whose spastic arm movements mimicked the basic chord structure of "This One's On the House." A guitar was put in his hand and a new BDF rhythm guitarist was found. A few strategically-placed electrodes later we had Brian Ballantine, also now known as "The World's Finest Mediocre Guitarist." He will also handle groupies and stalkers who approach the stage because he can swing his guitar better than he can play it. His influences are Bad Religion, Millencolin, The Stooges, The Carpenters, and your mom.

Here's a recent photo of Ballantine after a night of drunken fisticuffs (notice the bleeding knuckles):

BDF welcomes Ballantine to the band, and looks forward to making lots of drunken noise with him.

In unrelated news, we've added a couple new sections to the site: The Recipes page offers plenty of ideas for new drinks, meals, and hangover cures. While the Reviews section gives the take of members of the BDF community on a wide variety of things including bars, beers, bands, and more! Check them, and other assorted interesting stuff, in the Fun Stuff section of the site.

Well, BDF is ready to give you one more reason to drink - the second annual Puketoberfest celebration! That's right, folks, it's not a true Octoberfest until you Puke!
