Harlem Show Cancelled! Birthday Bash Planned!

07/25/02

Heya all!

We've got some bad news. Okay, here goes... Saturday's Show At Soundz With Squirrels From Hell Has Been Cancelled! Yes, it's true. BDF will NOT be invading Harlem this coming Saturday. The show at Soundz has been cancelled by the place as apparently the guy who books shows there and the owners of the club had a falling out. BDF looked into playing at the Apollo as an emergency fill-in venue, but a spokesman for the Apollo said that BDF was way too talented for their typical "Amateur Night" show.
No date has been rescheduled for Soundz.

And now.. The good news!!

We're having a BDF Birthday Bash for Richie Rheingold at Acme Underground!! Join BDF on Wednesday, August 7th at the Acme Underground! Not only is it going to be the usual BDF fun and excitement, but there will be a whole new level of Beer Drinking Foolishness as Richie Rheingold celebrates his 28th birthday! Party favors and noise makers will be provided! Buy Rich a beer and you get to give him birthday punches! (Note: He might punch back.) BDF will be going on at 9pm, and will be on-hand beforehand to enjoy some food and beverages in the restaurant above the club. Stop by after work, have a few cocktails, wish Rich a happy birthday, and then rock out with BDF! It doesn't get any better than that, now does it?

See you all there in 2 weeks! Don't forget to wear your drinking shoes!

BDF in Harlem!

07/18/02

Heya all!

On Saturday, July 27th, BDF invades Harlem! No, they won't be doing Showtime at the Apollo. It's a show at Soundz with their good buddies Squirrels From Hell!

A Saturday night celebration that everybody can come to since nobody has the excuse that they have to wake up early for work the next day! And, if you're not already convinced, here's a bit more to entice you: surprise guest vocalist! Well, not really a surprise.... If you check out the Gigs page it tells you who it is. But I bet most of you don't even make it past the first page, do you? I thought not!

Put on your drinking shoes, and we'll see you there!

Peace!

BDF in New York Press!

07/03/02

Heyas peoples!

Thanks to everybody who showed up for our gig at Acme Underground last night! One of our best crowds yet, and we hope we got everybody's 4th of July week off to a rockin (and drunk) beginning! We hope to be back there soonish!

BDF finds themselves once again in the news, this time in the latest issue of the New York Press free newspaper. Here's what they had to say right on Page 2:

Band Name of the Week:
Bunch of fun ones have come up recently: They Fought Back, Nokturnal Rage, Bullet Proof Moose (evidently referring to the hair product, not the animal), Digital Pimps and Beer Drinking Fools. But the winner this week: No Place To Piss. Couldn't be a side project of Beer Drinking Fools, could it?

Mad props to Tom N. at good ol' II for the lead!

BDF wishes each and every one of you a happy and safe (and drunk) 4th of July! Remember to kick back, crack a few brews, turn BDF up at full volume, and enjoy the day off!

BDF at Acme Underground!

07/01/02

Heyas fans!

Come on down to the Acme Underground on Tuesday, July 2nd, at 7pm for a great way to kick off a week of patriotic partying!! Come straight after work, get there early and buy some good old American BEER. Then sing along with the band to such patriotic anthems as "Work Sux" and "This One's On The House". What better way to usher in a long weekend of beaches, boats, barbeques, and Budweiser?!

Also, this show marks two historical events for BDF! First, it's the one year anniversary of BDF getting its act together and forming the current lineup of members and having their first practice together! Such classics as "Meet Me At The Bar" and "Latrell Sprewell" are celebrating their first birthday! Plus, this is the 10th live show for BDF! And the critics said they'd never make it past 2 shows, guess we showed them! Thanks to all our loyal fans for their support during our first year! And for those of you who have kept making excuses for not coming to a show (you know who you are), this is the perfect chance to come celebrate and show your support!

This show is nice and early, so you'll get home before bedtime. Hell, it'll still be daylight outside by the time BDF wraps up their final song! A perfect opportunity to spend a pleasant summer evening in Manhattan. And even if you get home late... WHO CARES?! Half the office will fly the coop on Wednesday anyways!

See ya all there!

Elbow Room Tonight! New BDF Review!

06/04/02

Heyas fans!

Elbow Room! Tonight! 10pm! BDF! Be there! We'll buy you a beer if you come up to us and say the phrase "Beer Me"! Word up!

In unrelated but just as exciting news, punkrockreviews.com has posted a review of "No Refunds"! They say some pretty good things about BDF, including this little piece of praise:

The humor comes in large doses in the lyrics and the bio and it's obvious these guys don't take themselves too seriously, a great characteristic of a true punk band.

If you can't find the review at the above links (they are having some weird routing problems for some people), the whole review can also be found in our press section here.

That's all for now. Don't forget to stop by the Elbow Room to claim your free beer tonight! Peace!

I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that you can expect to see some live action footage, and socks may play a prominent role in the video. And, if you're a relatively new BDF fan, go check out our first video for Meet Me At The Bar and see how to live your life like a true Fool!

Don't forget to check out the Gigs page for upcoming shows! Including our Reunion Show at the Elbow Room.. the first show from the sordid break-up events during the April Fool's Day show! Don't miss it!

Cool New Posters And More!

04/12/02

Heyas peoples!

Some cool new stuff today! A very talented artist, Joe Simko, created an original BDF poster as well as a flyer for the (now cancelled) Siberia show! They kick total frickin ass! You can check them out, as well as a wide variety of photos and other BDF art, in our popular Photos & Art section! If you like what you see here, then you'll appreciate the rest of the stuff on Joe Simko's own website just filled with his art. Swing by our funky fresh Message Board and let us know what you think of the new art!

Speaking of other cool sites, have you checked out our Links section lately? It's got some pretty neat stuff connected through there for you to check out. Perfect for a bored afternoon at work.

And, for all of you who like to sing along, the Lyrics page has been updated with the words to some of the newer songs, including the popular "Undercooked Gyro" tune! For those of you who aren't familiar with that song, it's based on a true story about a guy who went into a pizza place and ordred a gyro. When he got it, he complained it was undercooked. An argument ensued, and somebody wound up with a bullet in their ass. Literally. Mad props to Tee Balls for writing the lyrics for this song back in the early early days of BDF.

New BDF Album Released!!!

02/15/02

Hello all!!

The long awaited and highly anticipated BDF studio album has been released!!!
Yes, you read that correctly, the brand-spankin' new full-length album was recorded at Dare Studios in January, and has been mixed, mastered, cut, printed, burnt, shrink-wrapped, and whatever the hell else it is you do to new CDs when you make them! The album, entitled "No Refunds", features 13 of the latest and greatest BDF tunes in all their ear-splitting and drunkeness-inducing splendor! Included on the album are such crowd favorites as "Bitch Stole My Dog" and "Meet Me At The Bar", as well as some of the more recent songs like "Steady Diet Of Pub Food" and "BDF Fight Song". From start to end, the album will definitely fill you with the urge to drink alcohol in massive quantities. And who's to stop you!? Go for it!

And, to celebrate this historical event (it seems just about every BDF event is historical, doesn't it?), an Album Release Party will be held on Friday, March 1st. And guess what.... you're all invited! Remember, BDF isn't just a band, it's a worldwide organization made up of all our friends and fans and family who enjoy listening to music, drinking alcohol, and hanging out! We're just the ones who hold the instruments. So thanks again for all the continued support as BDF strives towards world domination. Okay, maybe not world domination... how about just a record deal so that we can quit our sucky 9-to-5 jobs? :) But the important thing is, we love you guys!

So about the party.... Everybody who shows up gets a FREE copy of the new Beer Drinking Fools album "No Refunds"! We also plan on handing out the prizes for the current BDF Trivia Contest. And, in keeping with the whole "alcohol" theme, the party will be held at one of our favorite bars! (Where'd you think it was going to be, a church?) The location is the Abbey Tavern, located on 3rd Avenue on the corner of East 26th Street. Festivities will start around 6:30pm, so stop by right after work and have a few cocktails to get the weekend started off right! We'll be there until everybody has had enough and stumbles home, or until we drink all the Guinness they have. Whichever comes first. Hope to see all of you there!

Also, for those of you not in the NYC area and/or can't make it to the Release Party, fear not! You can still get your hands on a copy of "No Refunds"! The CD can be purchased online and shipped to you. Go to the detailed "No Refunds" page, and you can order directly through our site! The CD is only $5, and they'll charge you $2.50 for shipping and handling on orders below $30. So if you order more any amount from one to six, the shipping is still just $2.50. So order a bunch at the same time to save on shipping! :P

Let us know what you think of the album, and hope to see you all there at the Release Party on March 1st!!! :)

-Steve
