Player Guide --------------- After penetrating the defenses of the Crystal Tower, the adventurers successfully retrieved the Sacred Chalice and returned it to the Villagers of Wirktus. However, it has become apparent that something far more sinister and dangerous lies behind the appearance of the Tower and the theft of the Chalice. All signs point to Greydale, a small city to the east of Wirktus. The adventurers depart Wirktus as heroes and begin their journey towards Greydale. Along the way, they come upon an area that has recently been buzzing with activity. It seems as if a dangerous labyrinth, known as the Minotaur Maze, has been attracting a lot of interest lately. Rumor has it that within the Maze lies a powerful Artifact of some sort. Various groups have been trying to solve the Maze and claim the Artifact. Perhaps these groups might know something about the theft of the Sacred Chalice? What exactly lies at the end of the Maze? What do these groups want with it? The Minotaur Maze consists of a wide variety of riddles and puzzles for characters to solve in order to progress deeper into the maze. It will take more than a big axe or powerful spells to conquer this challenge. So bring your wits, put on your thinking cap, and dare to face the challanges that await you in The Minotaur Maze. --------------- The Story: --------------- The story continues as the characters decide to travel to Greydale to further investigate who or what was behind the theft of the Sacred Chalice in Wirktus. However, on the way to Greydale, they are approached by a familiar face and told about a dangerous maze in the area. Recently, more and more people have been entering the maze to try and solve its riddles and challenges. Whatever lies at the end of the maze, it seems a lot of people are suddenly interested in getting to it. Can you solve the puzzles and riddles of the maze and get to the end before the other groups do? Guidelines: --------------- Henchman - Yes, I've added a henchman this time around! You should meet him soon after entering the maze. Whether or not you actually take him along is entirely up to you. The maze should be balanced enough for somebody playing solo (of the recommended level range) to make it through alive without the henchman, so its your choice. Encounters - If you're playing multiplayer, most encounters will scale based upon the number of people in your party, so stick together and work as a team! The encounters will also respawn after a certain amount of time, so just because you killed everything in a given area does not mean it will be empty when you come back 30 minutes later! So be prepared! Maze - The maze consists of five levels. The first level is, by far, the largest and most combat heavy. The other four are about 90% puzzles and riddles. So if you're running around the first level, getting frustrated at all the dead ends and circles you're going in, don't worry. Only the first level is like that. I felt I couldn't call it a "maze" without at least one floor full of twisting hallways and mysterious doors leading to nowhere. ;) Riddles - Most of the riddles are random. Meaning that just because you got a particular riddle on the first floor the first time through, doesn't mean you'll get the same riddle the next time through. This was added to give the module some replayability and because I wanted to see if I could script it. :P Also, the riddles typically respond only to a 1-3 word phrase for the answer. Saying "The answer is..." or a long line of speech with 10 answers in it like "black white red blue yellow green" hoping that one of the words is correct will NOT work. So say your answers one at a time. ;) Some riddles might seem easier than others. I tried to make none of them ridiculously hard. Just keep in mind what a riddle is, read the clues carefully, and use your brain and you should be allright. :) Feel free to e-mail me for hints if you get REALLY stuck. The important thing is to have fun. :) What's Next?: --------------- Actually getting to Greydale is not part of this module... That's the next part. ;) "Crystal Tower III : Greydale" will be the name of the next module, and will allow the characters to enter Greydale and learn a lot more about what the heck is going on. Right now, I plan on having four parts to this particular series. --------------- I guess that's about it. I've had this module running open to the public for several days now, and I think I've fixed all the bugs. However, if you find any, or if you have any other questions or comments, feel free to email me at jaspor@beerdrinkingfools.org and I'll get back to you. :) Thanks for playing, and hope you enjoy it! -Jaspor
